The Spirit Tree

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the Fear of the LORD (Isaiah 11:1-5)

It is no coincidence that this passage, together with 1 Chronicles 29:11 and others we will see later, contains the most important spheres of the Tree of Life, which was represented by the Menorah, and the former Nazarene symbol:

Nazarene symbol found at Mount Zion, and attributed to the first Nazarenes, followers of Yahshua (Jesus) and Yaakov (James the apostle).
It Contains Menorah, the Star of David and a Romboid Alef with a Tav in the middle.
The inscription says: Shemen Rajaun, Oil of Spirit.
A similar symbol appeared at the Essene quarters of Jerusalem, and remained hidden for centuries [1]

Then we have the famous geometric version brought to light by the Spanish Judeo-Christian Kabbalists, with which they reconciled the three religions. Although it is an incomplete version of Jacob's Ladder.

For now it suffice to realize the Tree does not come from occultism, which misuses it, nor from new age milk.

By fortune, its true connections are coming to Light for this time:

The seven flames of the menorah and the seven main areas of the Tree can be seen as the seven levels of Spirit that Jesus/Yahshua received after his baptism.

An extraordinary idea to meditate on, since no man has ever come so far starting from a fallen human condition.

This helps to understand more the passage that was suppressed in Mark´s first chapter by theologians but preserved in early Gospel codices and a Paul´s letter:

You are my son; today [in your baptism] I have begotten thee (Hebrews 1: 5, Psalm 2: 7)

Only then Yahshua could have participation in the Mind-Logos of the Father, which is in Keter, the Crown of the Tree.

Thus he became Anointed/Christ/Massiah, which is the Divine Consciousness that is continuously sent to rescue the fragments of the Son in human hearts.

Therefore, Yahshua/Jesus is a great example of how each seeker has to manifest the corresponding Christ nature; although Christ is the head and we are its body (1 Corinthians 12:27).

While Christ is the body of the Supreme, and the head of Christ is God (1 Corinthians 11:3).

This means that if one of these seven levels should fail in our lives, we would have everything to lose, failing to become fully and divinely human, Sons of the Eternal.

I assure you that those who have faith in me [my Teaching] will also do the works that I do; and will do even greater things, because I go to where the Father is (John 14:12)

But it would be impossible if one looked back, letting the darkness come in, once the journey of purification has started

For anybody who having put his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the Kingdom (Luke 9:62)

In that case, the Gospel says that the old evil spirit that came out -envy, anger, greed, etc–, takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first (Luke 11:26)

Every spiritual virtue that degenerates or is not developed, becomes a vice.

Hence the extreme danger of the "religious" organizations that deny their followers all access to self-knowledge and divine Wisdom, considering it unfathomable mysteries or works of the devil.

The truth is quite the opposite, because without them there is no possibility of access to the Kingdom of the Spirit and there for no chance of true resurrection.

Every soul will be measured in accord to its understanding of the mysteries of the Kingdom, according to its possibilities.

As it was said earlier, this is not about being "good lads". The old exhortations "be a good boy or a good girl", "behave well", etc, never worked because darkness has its own trickery.

As Paul stated:

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me (Romans 7:19)

So the greatest victory of darkness is the fear and ignorance about the nature of  reality, including such darkness.

Hence it was said:

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16)

So, how can all inner darkness be dissipated?:

Spirit of the Lord (Ruaj Yhwh)

The Lord is Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (1 Corinthians 3:17)

No one can know the Supreme in itself, but only through the manifestations or fruits of its Spirit in the Tree of Life, the first of which is the face of the Father, also known as Mind-Logos or Keter (Crown, Flame nÂș1).

Yet, the Father is still too high for fallen humanity that is barely able to say "daddy" before the celestial progenitor.

So, a mediator is required.

And the fundamental key is to understand that the central quality of Spirit is Love, which unites the Father-Mother with the Son, and the Son with the Spouse, the individual human soul (Neshemah).

And the individual soul dwells in the sphere 6 as a Sleeping Beauty, awaiting to be kissed by the Prince, which is sent by the Father in the form of Spirit.

But in order for this to take place, first there must be a harmonization in Yesod, the 9th sphere, which is the vital-sexual energy that feeds and unites body (10), mind (8) and emotions (7).

The union of body and mind with a reconciling feeling acts as the so called Faithful Steward of the House (Luke 16:1).

The vital level is the inferior soul, known in Hebrew as Nephesh, which once is united to the individual soul or Neshemah, activates the personal spirit or Ruaj, the awakened soul, the force that lifts us over all obstacles.

But only when the Steward sets everything in order, balancing body, mind and feeling, can the Soul be kissed by the Spirit and awake on her first Christic dimension, the sphere 6, in Tiferet (Beauty, Love, Harmony of Opposites).

I am the Way [of harmony], the Truth and Life and no one comes to the Father except through me (Juan 14:16)

Here lies the importance of becoming one with the Son -not to be confused with worshiping the Son as something external, but be part of him in actuality, assume all responsibility, and cease to cry as victims.

The Love for the Eternal One is the center of all creation and seeks transcendence of all selfishness, overcoming all darkness and illuminate it to give it everything.

To love the eternal one means to let the Spirit fill one´s being, so one feel its overflow and gives without expecting anything in return. Nothing outside that does not come from within. If one does not receive, it is because there is a blockage, a resistance that must be eliminated.

The only really effective way is first to know oneself to allow the Spirit inside.

If you do not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and are that poverty (Gospel of Thomas)

To know the Spirit not only involves finding the divine in our personal relations, but also entering what is called silent state of centering prayer, in which, from a stable position, with eyes closed, one rests on the love towards the Beloved One, which is actually his own Love.

This requires the kenosis or self-emptying that Paul mentioned in Philippians 2: 5-7: have the same feelings that Christ Jesus had, quiene despite having the form of God did not consider equality with God but emptied himself (ekenosen), taking the form of a servant.

Obviously, a heart full of pride, selfishness and evil is blocked and cannot feel what is divine within, because the things of God are only known by the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:11)

Silent prayer was the ancient way of getting into contact with the Lord in the heart, but it does not come easily without cleaning the house by using a meditative preparation.

That prayer was described in detail in a wonderful medieval mystic manual, The Cloud of Unknowing.

And it was rediscovered by the monk William Meninger, who used it as a foundation of what he and his colleagues,   the Trappist Monks Thomas Keating and Basil Pennington, called Centering Prayer.

More bout it will come soon, since it is a jewel that no authentic seeker should stop seeking.

Spirit of Wisdom (Jokmah)

How much better is it to get Wisdom than gold! and to get Understanding rather to be chosen than silver!(Proverbs 16:16)

Wisdom corresponds to the second sphere of the Tree of Life. And of course, it is not about human ideas.

For it is written, I will destroy the (human) wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the (mundane) understanding of the prudent (Corinthians 1:19, Isaiah 29:14)

Divine Wisdom is the flashes of intuition, inspiration and insight that reveal an original idea that should be unfolded, like a seed. And it comes from the atom spirit that corresponds to each individual, its Higher Self.

The serpent energy tricks wisely, so we must be even wiser. Be wise as serpents and meek as doves.

And these flashes of wisdom can only come when there is complete humility and silent listening.

Jokmah comes from koach mah, which is indeed the power of nothingness, where only divine seeds shine.

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord is Wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)

Without inner silence and clarity, one cannot receive Wisdom.

Spirit of Intelligence/Understanding (Binah)

Third sphere of the Tree of Life.

To know the holy is Intelligence (Proverbs 9:10)

One thing is to get an idea or intuition and another to be able to develop its content in our lives, becoming more whole, that is, more holy.

How often an important idea or intuition crosses the mind for a moment and due to a distraction we are unable to remember or even understand and unpack age it in order to solve a problem or do something that us required?

Do we really understand the interaction of body, soul and spirit in our life?

Do we develop the "seed idea" of our essence or remain unfinished, like embryos?

Without understanding ourselves how can we manifest we are Sons fully?.

Spirit of Counsel (Etza)

It corresponds to the fourth sphere of the Tree of Life, which has to do with compassion and mercy (Jesed).

When one is connected to the Beloved through the spirit-seed or higher Self, this is mirrored on acts, words and the way one leads others with them.

Everything we do and say affects all around us, both for good and for bad.

But I tell you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account on the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36)

Spirit of Strength (Geburah)

The Lord is my strength (Psalm 118:14)

The fifth sphere of the Tree is related to Justice and Judgement (Din). And by reflecting on it we realize that the real strength comes from the ability to discern the false from the true and allow the justice of the Divine, not ours. It is the discerning power of the Spirit what overcomes the inertia of our false personality.

Spirit of Knowledge/Consciousness (Da'at)

If anyone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know how to know; but he who loves God, he is known by Him (1 Corinthians 8: 2)

The Logos said: "If you know the Truth will set you free". Ignorance is slavery. Knowledge is freedom. (Gospel of Philip)

Somehow, the Knowledge is given to every creature. Plants and trees know they need to grow towards the sun; birds and fish know their migration routes, etc.

But what about humans? Why are they lost?

In humanity, Knowledge is self-knowledge that facilitates the conscious experience of reality, knowing that everything is part of an ineffable harmony and one is part of the glow of the Unique.

In the Tree of Life, Knowledge or Da´at is the key that leads to experience and balance the six emotional spheres represented in the midst of the tree, under Da´at itself.

Those six spheres are represented by the Star of David, and correspond to the Soul of the Primordial Adam or Son.

This Soul got fragmented in the previous universe, with the Fall of Lucifer (Isaiah), which took place right after Genesis 1:1 account, reason why it continues saying: and the earth became without form and void.

The creation of the Edenic Adam had as main purpose to restore the order by recomposing the Soul. Something for which a new fall was required.

And here we are, crazier than ever.

Da'at does not usually appear depicted, as it is actually the union of Wisdom and Understanding. But given its importance on the whole Tree, it must appear, as in the Tree we saw in Spirit of Intelligence.

Without the union of opposites, the Tree loses the middle pillar and only Duality is experienced; in other words, one forgets the Tree of Life and one eats from the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, as fallen humanity.

For that reason, Moses is told, in reference to Betzalel, the architect of the Tabernacle:

I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in Wisdom, Intelligence and Knowledge in all kinds of wit (Exodus 31: 3)

Awe the Lord (Yirah Adonai)

The beginning of Wisdom is the Awe of the Lord (Proverbios 9:10) and the Fear of the Lord is to move away from negativity; I detest pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth (Proverbs 8:13)

Fear is an obstacle, and therefore has nothing to do with the so called Fear of God.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has to do with punishment. He that fears is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18)

The meaning then is Reverential Respect or Awe. He who knows the Beloved in the heart, does not make a false step, for he knows that to go against Love or resist it, will create suffering, the infamous "wrath of God", so poorly understood.

What one does, comes back. The Fear of the Lord is avoiding fighting against a Tsunami.

Such respect reminds of what the philosopher Immanuel Kant called "sentiment of respect before the moral law"

This has been enough for this year 2015. Let´s hope this journey can continue on 2016, with an ever greater Light.

And as my grandmother used to say, may the Spirit illumine us.
